off I-24 and I-75, north of Atlanta, the Chattanooga African American
Museum is a motherlode of information about the African experience in
the world, in America, and of course in Chattanooga.
Frequently Asked Questions About The Museum
The museum boast a unique collection of multi-media presentations,
rare artifacts, African Art, original sculptures, paintings, musical
recordings and local Black newspapers. At the time of its founding in
1983, sources in curricula, historical references, creative works, and
the media about the identity of African Americans were limited and
inaccessible to the average student or individual.

Q: What is the cost of the tour?
A: $3.00 for adults, $2.00 for students (K-12).
Q: How long is the tour?
A: allow 1 - 2 hours to see all of the sites and sounds.
Q: Are reservations needed?
A: No, but they are recommended to insure that your group receives the
best from the tour.
Q: Do you have group rates?
A: Yes, minimum of 10 people to make a group with a complementary 1
adult per group.
Q: What is the payment policy?
No deposit required. The CAAM accepts cash and company checks.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Please notify the CAAM at least one week prior to the scheduled
visit.
Q: Is food served at the CAAM?
Food service is available for groups with a ten day notice.
Q: What type of special activities are sponsored at the CAAM?
A: Annual African Cultural Ball (first Friday in February), New Year's
Eve Party, Black History Expo (February), Annual Kwanzaa Celebration
(December) and the Night To Remember (April).
Directions: From I-24 take Hwy. 27 North towards downtown.
Exit #1-A onto M.L. King Blvd. East. Museum is six blocks on the
right. Free Bus and Motorcoach parking in the rear.
